Whole: Rethinking the Science of Nutrition (A Giveaway!)

This contest is now closed, and winner is <drumroll….> Ashley! She went gluten free to try and clear up her sinus infections, then went completely plant-based (literally) over night after reading the China Study! Very impressive!

I was vegan before reading The China Study but passed it on to a meat loving friend who is also now vegan (99%)after reading the book. Excellent book…very informative.

Reading The China Study motivated me to go from vegetarian to vegan!

Two years ago I Saw “Forks Over Knives” and then read The China Study. I moved from a vegetarian to a vegan diet and have not regretted it.

  • Jennifer P. September 16, 2013, 8:20 am

My husband and I both made lots of changes. I went vegetarian and my husband significantly reduced his meat intake.

  • Brenda Kells September 16, 2013, 8:35 am

My best friend suggested the book and I was a total omnivore. I really didn’t eat that much mead. Within two weeks I had become a Vegan, that was 14 months ago. Thank you so much for all of your great recipes. You have really helped me in my journey. My husband, who told me he was not going to eat that crap, (was a dedicated carnivore)…..is now eating about half the meat he was a year ago. Yoppee. healthier lifestyle for both of us!!

  • Shannon September 16, 2013, 11:46 am

I haven’t read The China Study, but I have heard about it in various other documentaries and books I’ve read. Excited about Whole – just saw it at the library last week!

6 months ago I Saw “Forks Over Knives” and then read The China Study. My husband and I moved from a vegetarian to a vegan diet and will never go back!

I have not read The China Study, but I do strive to eat a whole food, plant-based diet. I am eager to learn all I can about nutrition.

  • Judith September 16, 2013, 5:12 pm

It’s on my list but super popular at the library so have not read CS yet. Glad to see there is so much interest in eating REAL food!

  • The Peace Patch September 16, 2013, 7:00 pm

  • Melissa K. September 16, 2013, 8:43 pm

I have not read THE CHINA STUDY, but I’ve read mostly everything else. I get it! I am working hard at the plant based thing, but admit I am not 100% vegan all the time (but vegetarian, yes). I think “WHOLE” is going to be more useful..looking forward to reading it!

  • Becca F September 16, 2013, 11:47 pm

I have not read the China study but the cookbook is on my wish list

  • Nicole September 17, 2013, 7:58 am

Reading the China study was the final point in my becoming vegan in fact it’s having a very similar(albeit slower) effect on my partner of 10 years who was resolved NOT going to follow suit in the beginning. Whether or not he will become vegan remains to be seen but his diet has improved greatly.

  • Priscilla September 17, 2013, 8:14 am

I am embarrassed to say I haven’t read the China Study yet! I have had a copy on my nightstand for years. My boyfriend calls me a bad vegan for never having read it! For some reason, I just can’t get into it. But I swear…it is next on my to-read list!

  • Robin September 18, 2013, 2:31 am

I was already vegan when I read “The China Study,” but it gave me some great talking points!

  • Jen September 18, 2013, 6:10 am

I have read the China Study, and now my diet is mostly vegan. I have also seen a difference in my young infant daughter!

  • Ashley September 18, 2013, 7:51 am

I had a lot of sinus infections for years. I went gluten free which had helped but I was still in search of a lifestyle change that would make me feel 100% again. After watching a few documentaries on plant based nutrition, I read The China Study. The very next day I cut out all animal based foods. Almost a year later I feel great. I lost the last 10 pounds I needed to and I have a lot more energy than I ever had. I recommend it to anyone of any age. Whole has been checked out at my local library and I have a hold on it for when it comes back in. Can’t wait to read it.

  • Terri Cole September 18, 2013, 1:13 pm

I have not read The China Study, but have seen it referenced pretty much everywhere. I became vegan after reading Kathy Freston’s “Veganist”.

  • Tracy September 19, 2013, 9:23 am

I haven’t read it yet, but it’s on my list.

  • Alisa Johnson September 19, 2013, 10:20 am

I checked out both The China Study and Whole from my local library, but I didn’t get very far in them before they were due back. I would love to have my own copy of Whole.

  • Stacey September 19, 2013, 11:42 am

I have not read “The China Study”, however after watching “Forks Over Knives” it inspired me to go from a mostly vegetarian diet to a WFPB diet. I physically feel better and emotionally feel better. I have three step-children and with each meal I try to emphasize the importance of eating a healthy, plant based diet while giving them examples of how the fruits or vegetables benefit us. I believe this book would be a good tool in helping me do this.

  • Niki September 19, 2013, 11:47 am

I wish I had read the china study and many other books years ago. I didn’t read it until after becoming vegan for personal health reasons and I feel like it would have been all I needed to change my ways. Very excited to see what the next installment has to offer!

  • Sarah F September 19, 2013, 11:53 am

I haven’t made it all the way through The China Study yet, but I am enrolled in the Cornell Plant Based Nutrition courses right now. I am a HUGE T. Colin fan 🙂 Our whole family is plant based, and I’d love a copy of the new book!

  • Kim Weinstein September 19, 2013, 3:03 pm

I read The China Study while going thru intense, hospitalized chemo treatments for Synovial Sarcoma (cancer). If I could go back in time I would not have gone thru chemo and radiation. I would have simply changed to a vegan diet. I didn’t need to get very far in reading The China Study before it made sense to me to become vegan. I’ve been a vegan since early 2010. I haven’t regretted it for a moment. I’ve made so many delicious vegan and raw recipes and feel better than when I was not a vegan. I would LOVE a copy of T. Colin Campbell’s book, Whole!

  • Meaghan September 19, 2013, 5:29 pm

I have not yet read the China Study but it’s in my que on amazon! I’d love to read this book as well 🙂

  • Annie September 19, 2013, 6:45 pm

LOVED this book! I struggled in spots with the science, but it’s incredibly powerful.

  • Erin September 20, 2013, 12:21 pm

I haven’t read the China Study but have of course heard so much about it. I’d love to read Whole!

  • Jennifer K September 21, 2013, 12:22 pm

I haven’t read the China Study (in spite of being vegan) but it seems that I should pick it up and have a read

  • Sherry (BTLover2) September 22, 2013, 1:10 pm

I have not read The China Study but am aware of it from watching Forks Over Knives which changed my life. Whole is on my Amazon wish list so I’d love to win it!

  • Frugal Vegan Mom September 22, 2013, 9:11 pm

I have read the China Study and I learned to completely distrust the food industry and their marketing schemes.
